XPS 15 After hours and hours of working on this, I finally have a fix. Fixed everything -- even the formerly-missing control panel.

So, advice: look for the desktop version of the driver your seeking if you have a notebook. But, yeah HappyMajor probably has a desktop and by luck of him sharing this and me not looking to see how it was different from the notebook version I stumbled into an undocumented fix. EDIT: I spoke too soon. Still not able to update the driver. Ugh this is frustrating.

Thanks so much for posting this! Not being able to update the driver was driving me nuts. As u said. I was looking for Win Updates. Install it I've been having the exact same problems. Also this is a brand new laptop, literally just out of the box yesterday. Through GeForce Experience, it says that the download fails.

In manually installing the driver, I get an error saying my OS is not compatible. I tried installing v. I'm relieved other people have the same problem, I didn't want to take back my new laptop!

If anyone finds a solution, please let us know! This is super annoying. I found a potential solution! If you're having the issue where attempting to install the driver manually and NOT through GeForce Experience gives you the error "The standard Nvidia graphics driver is not compatible with this version of Windows", then you can download and install the Hotfix Driver Specifically, you should download and install the DCH version of the driver.

This version was able to install on my system, and it also installed GeForce Experience that now works and recognizes the updated driver. I've yet to see if GeForce Experience will actually successfully download and install new drivers, but hopefully it will. I hope this helps someone!
